Hello, It's Nice to Meet You.
How Can I Help You?

You can quit your job and live a life you love!

When people used to ask the question "What do you want to be when you grow up?" I had no answer, and often used examples of what my older siblings were doing for their occupations. I never could see myself doing any of those things, but I didn't have a passion for any job that I could think of.

I followed the traditional path of high school, college and entered the "grown up" work force by getting a customer service job. It definitely wasn't my passion, it wasn't even an interest, but I figured it would pay the bills until the job I really wanted came along. I had a knack for learning things and changed jobs several times within that organization over the next 14 years.

By the time I was sliding into my 15th year there, I felt stagnant. I had held most of the positions in that company, and the current owner had turned into a micro-manager. It's not that I have a problem with authority. It's that I have a problem with not being allowed to do a job, not being trusted, and, most importantly, not growing as an individual.

So, I started looking for other jobs, and got a few offers, but it just felt like I would be replaying the last 14 years all over again. None of those jobs offered me anything that made my eyes light up and my heart dance. I felt like I was at a dead end with no way to move forward, only left, right or backwards.

That's when I had a conversation with Valerie Young from Changing Course. Valerie had been an associate of mine for several years and she occasionally asked me to assist her on projects. She showed me that I could replace my existing salary with a living I would love and be able to work from home, just as she had done. The idea of scheduling my own hours, being challenged and being able to grow as person sounded SO exciting! But, I have to admit, it also sounded almost too good to be true.

Work for myself? What about my bills? What if I fail?

I was scared. I had a home, a husband and a heap of responsibility. I needed some type of guarantee that I wouldn't fall on my face and go broke. I started working at my new venture just a few hours a week, in addition to my "real" job. I would work on nights or weekends and slowly I created relationships with clients that I knew wanted to work with me even more - if only I had more time. It finally became clear to me that I had no reason NOT to quit my job, and become a full-time Virtual Professional.

The day I turned in my notice, my husband and I went to dinner to celebrate. Immediately, I felt happier and more focused than I had in years. I no longer carried the burden of a
j-o-b on my shoulders. I really was making a living at something I love! I never had to face another day, another hour, another moment at a job I hated - ever again. I can't tell you what a relief that was. Still, it took six months for me to quit dreaming about my old job; I had no idea I had been that miserable, until I left and distance helped me see more clearly.

Over those first few months, people who didn't even know me well noticed the change in my demeanor - that was a real wake-up call! Friends were shocked when I told them that my former employer was now a client of mine. They thought since I had been so miserable that I would never work with them again. What they didn't realize is that I was now a vendor and they were my customer - a very different relationship than that of an employee. Not only was it a much more pleasant working relationship, they were one of my most loyal clients for my first few years in business. You hear it all the time, but there's a reason that people say it: Don't burn your bridges. Just because you hate working as an employee does not mean that you'll hate working as a contractor.

I realized that what I enjoyed most about my job was helping people - fixing things, providing solutions to problems. That's why it was natural for me to become an Outside of the Job Box Career Consultant. It allows me to not only help others remove themselves from toxic environments, but to show them that there's hope - that there's a better way - that anyone can work in an environment that fulfills you. You choose your own hours, your own dress code and your own vacation time. You can replace your income with a living that you love. Work that inspires you and motivates you. Work that makes you jump out of bed in the morning because you're so eager to get started.

I've had the honor of learning from the teacher herself, Valerie Young at ChangingCourse.com. Valerie's helped people explore their dreams, find their life's mission and live it since 1995! Who better to teach me the process that I can now share with you.

If you want to wake up each day with a sense of purpose and enjoyment, it's time to take action. Alfred Adler once said, "Life happens at the level of events, not of words. Trust movement." If you're ready to discover ways that you, too, can leave the heavy burden of a job you just can't stand, it's time to take action.

Now, how can I help you?

If you're still reading this, I believe it's because you're more than ready to make a change, ready to create your own income, ready to make a new life for yourself doing things you love to do. And that's just where I can help. Why am I so confident? Because I've been surrounded by entrepreneurs my entire life. My grandparents were entrepreneurs, my parents were entrepreneurs, my brother and sister are entrepreneurs. I even married into an entrepreneurial family!

In addition, I've been blessed to work personally with Valerie Young, Barbara Winter (author of Making a Living Without a Job) and Barbara Sher (author of I Could do Anything If I Only Knew What That Was and Refuse to Choose). And I've been honored to brainstorm with many aspiring entrepreneurs about ways they could turn their passion into their livelihood.

I've been obsessed with entrepreneurs for most of my life, because I've seen first-hand how people can create a rewarding, fulfilling life doing things most people would never dream of!

Did you know you can make a living as a professional haunted house designer? Or an entrepreneur etiquette coach? Or a travel photographer? It's true! You may not think that you can make a living doing what you're passionate about, but I'll bet you're wrong. Chances are, I already know of a resource or niche that would be perfect for you.
